Audi TTS
Audi TTS
Audi presented at the Hall of Detroit (from 19 to 27 January) sportier version of the TT range. It will have to develop more Engine 2.0 TFSI, which raises its power to 272 hp, will be on sale in summer for a competitive price that will depart from 44,900 euros, and is known as Audi TTS. This version top model will be available in both coupe and cabriolet body, and because of its great potential may shine in a segment that includes the Porsche Boxster S or Cayman S (295 hp) and BMW Z4 3.0si (265 hp). Of course, neither will have easy compared with surprising Nissan 350 Z (313 hp), let alone in front of the Mercedes SLK 350 renovated, which will arrive in April with 305 hp.
The new top of the range is distinguished from the rest of the TT, in addition to the logo “TTS” because some alloy wheels, 18 inches in some xenon headlamps with daylight point type. It comes standard with integrated traction and Quattro system suspensions adaptive Magnetic Ride (with mode “Normal” mode or “Sport”, so that the driver chooses at any given moment), so the options are reduced to bodywork open or closed , and manual gearbox or S tronic.
The mechanics is an evolution over 2.0 TFSI that in principle, in the VW Golf GTI, gave 200 hp, and lately, having different variants, as the roof holds the compact Audi S3 with 265 hp. There are now 272 hp, which does not seem barbaric considering that the Super Seat Leon circuit (it is a racing car, but with a rather conservative empowerment) draws 300 hp. The preparation over the initial 2.0 TFSI not summarized to a mere “twist in the turbo” because, as befits a sporting level Audi TT, includes changes in the block, cylinder head, pistons, connecting rods and… logically , in the turbo, which works to a maximum pressure of up to 1.2 bar.
With these modifications the Audi TTS leaves little evidence in the TT 3.2 V6 250 hp because, for a similar amount of money, the TTS weighs less, spend less and runs more. According to the other is a six-cylinder engine in V of 3.2 litres and the TTS a two liter four-cylinder, but of course that this argument will convince very few potential customers. The Audi TT 2.0 TFSI 200-hp front traction and it will remain an attractive option for its lower price. As for the new model which will arrive in mid-year, the coupe version TTS S tronic spends only 7.9 l/100 km and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 5.2 seconds for a tiempazo this level car ! Part of the secret lies in the content weight of 1,395 kilograms, which translates into an advantageous price / yield of 5.1 kg per hp.
